Watching NASCAR's race at Atlanta last night, I started thinking about how the manual transmissions on the next-gen cars are sequential and that the drivers don't need to use the clutch pedal to shift. This led me down a mental rabbit hole to my youth and the first manual-transmission vehicles I remember driving -- farm tractors.

Bear with me -- I am going somewhere with this, I promise.

QOTD: Influenced by the Automotive Press?

After last week's story on how Consumer Reports slapped the "avoid" label on the popular Ford F-150, I was going to ask you how much CR shapes your purchase decisions. The magazine is popular, and I know a lot of people, both car enthusiasts and not, who trust it.

QOTD: What Movie Car Would You Drive?

I was channel-surfing the other night and came across the final Back to the Future movie. Now, like any child of the '80s, I like DeLoreans -- though I prefer the original to the time-machine converted since they look cleaner -- but I really, really love the Toyota pickup Marty dreams about. The same one he gets after he returns from the Old Wet.

  • VoGhost ChatGPT, Review the following article from Automotive News: and create an 800 word essay summarizing the content. Then re-write the essay from the perspective of an ExxonMobil public relations executive looking to encourage the use of petroleum. Ensure the essay has biases that reinforce the views of my audience of elderly white Trump-loving Americans with minimal education. Then write a headline for the essay that will anger this audience and encourage them to read the article and add their own thoughts in the comments. Then use the publish routine to publish the essay under “news blog” using Matt Posky listing the author to completely subvert the purpose of The Truth About Cars.
