Super Bowl LVIII Automotive Commercial Live-ish Blog

The eyes of the world are turned toward Las Vegas tonight, with all sorts of weird storylines surrounding the Super Bowl. It seems that a country musician from the verdant farmland of...the Philadelphia dating a large guy from Ohio, and if I'm reading the latest conspiracy theories correctly, the outcome of both this couple's love life and the final score of the game will have significant impact on the outcome of the presidential election?

No, this is not some "I hate sports" rant. It's more a comment on the absurdity that is our media landscape these days. I enjoy football, but as one can imagine from my chosen profession, I prefer driving. Thus our subject this evening–the automotive commercials that will be airing throughout the contest.

It's pretty likely we've already seen everything that will be aired during the game as part of my pregame roundup on Friday, but I'll be sharing links to YouTube throughout the evening nonetheless. So, whether you're at a party or you're sitting at home, fire up your mobile devices or laptops and keep hitting refresh on Set out some wings or pizza for another large guy from Ohio, and I'll bring the commercials in case you need to answer nature's call.

Nothing yet. I have my TV on mute, but it seems that the guest of honor has made it to the stadium.

First Quarter

Yeah, not really automotive like I noted on Friday. I hadn't noticed that Stone Cold Steve Austin was featured the first time I watched it...

Walken is walkin' and drivin'.

Second Quarter

Also not really automotive, but...I wonder how much Stellantis tossed the producers for Ram product placement?

Third Quarter

Well, right before what I think is the third showing of the weird Temu ad, we have Toyota holding on for dear life, much as the Chiefs seem to be.

Neil Diamond, Darth Vader, Bart and Lisa, and Volkswagen. 'Murica.

Fourth Quarter

Maybe the kid in the commercial will be in the 2026 Winter Olympics?

I'm rather doubting there are any new ads to be shown...but you never know.

Well, now we know that Tom Brady is shilling for Dunkin' and Arnold Schwarzenegger has picked up the khakis, Mahomes grabs another ring.

Good night, all.

Some enthusiasts say they were born with gasoline in their veins. Chris Tonn, on the other hand, had rust flakes in his eyes nearly since birth. Living in salty Ohio and being hopelessly addicted to vintage British and Japanese steel will do that to you. His work has appeared in eBay Motors, Hagerty, The Truth About Cars, Reader's Digest, AutoGuide, Family Handyman, and Jalopnik. He is a member of the Midwest Automotive Media Association, and he's currently looking for the safety glasses he just set down somewhere.

No surprise that nobody here mentions Usher given the angry dadbod energy permeating every corner of this sad dump. I'm not even a fan of his music but that was a really cool 1/2 time set. I also liked the Dr Dre set, bite me heartlanders.

  • Dartdude They need to rebrand the models, The standard model should be Wagoneer and long version should be Grand Wagoneer. There should offer the Ram Rev powertrain in these
  • Irvingklaws Seems more like they're adopting Honda styling queues. Now if they would just adopt their reliability...
  • FreedMike "Obsidian Edition."Oooooh, obsidian is really, really hard stuff.
  • John The awesome Infiniti G series saved this company 20 years ago, but they are right back on track to obsolescence. (yawn)
  • Teddyc73 White with black wheels, I'm so sick of. Or dull grey and black wheels. Just stop.
