2015 Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept all electric vehicle – front ex

Last week, we reported on the second suspension of Chevrolet’s trademark application for the Bolt nameplate. Said application is now active once again.

According to Chevrolet spokeswoman Annalisa Bluhm, who contacted us this morning regarding the trademarking process for its low-cost, 200-mile EV:

Chevrolet has been working closely with the USPT on Bolt trademark. Our legal staff has consent from Yamaha to use the Bolt name. According to our legal team, our USPT application is back to active status.

The most recent suspension came about when a custom sleeper cab company in Indiana applied to protect its name, Bolt Custom Trucks. Though the email addressed only the first suspension by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office — Yamaha had reserved Bolt for motorcycles and related parts prior to the brand’s application — it would appear the second suspension involving the builder was resolved, as well.
