Government Motors is expected to make an imminent announcement on the sale of its Hummer brand, says Reuters. Note that the revelation comes from Kevin Wale, president of GM China Group. Just another attempt to disseminate more feel-good news in its second largest market? Or an indication of the location of the buyer?

I hear the country of Madagascar has a group of lemurs that want their own car company. My guess: Zoboomafoo is the new owner of Hummer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFpR1KnyluI

There are approximately 170 Hummer dealerships in the U.S. The AP reports that GM says the say of Hummer will save 3000 jobs. So, 3000/170 = 17.64 That would be something that saves approximately 17 jobs per Hummer dealer. Basic math leads me to believe Hummer is going overseas, along with the tooling. How about "Made in Russia, for sale to Oil Shieks?"

GM thought that Hummer would be Jeep II, but it was ill conceived, ill timed, and ill named. I really considered the Hummer brand unsellable, but maybe an overseas buyer is unaware (or doesn't care) of the really negative image that Hummer has in the USA.

Negative image? Not quite, just people who wanted to buy them but couldn't afford them and a group of people that bitched and whined about their existence and other's rights to own them. I say let the Chineese enjoy the lifestyle we used to have before that right was stripped away.
