QOTD: Going Cyber?

Today's QOTD is quite simple -- would you, if you have the dough, buy a Tesla Cybertruck?

OK, let me amend that a little -- would you buy the Cybertruck if you had the dough and the ability to live the EV lifestyle due to easy access to a charger?

As a bonus QOTD, feel free to weigh in on the truck's looks.

As for me, I don't think it's attractive. I hesitate to use the word "ugly" -- I've probably seen worse automotive design -- but it looks either like those fantasy Hot Wheels cars I played with as a kid or something out of a Robocop movie.

That's it, that's the QOTD. It's that simple. And yes, we've covered the Cybertruck a lot this afternoon but it's a big deal so it's worth the attention, even if that attention is critical/negative.

So, you know the deal. Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

I'd buy an electric truck, but not this one. It's just kind of silly. I feel like Elon was trolling and ended up taking the troll too far and had to build it. Kind of like how he ended up owning Twitter

No thanks... its too big and way too ugly.

With a few small tweaks my current Santa Cruz would be the perfect truck. Currently no other product on the market regards of price fits my use case better then Hyundai's offering. The Rivian's range is just not enough and there are no chargers at the boat ramp so my time spent on the water would yield no extra juice for the drive home.

I'm all in on EVs, and I was willing to look past the Cybertruck's looks.

But Musk & Co missed the 500+ mile range number (for towing my camper) required to make me overlook this vehicle's looks.

Also, a tonneau cover that blocks your rear view isn't genuis-level engineering, and I'd miss turn signal stalks.

lastly, Musk's stunts (like shooting it with a tommy gun) has succeeded in convincing me that the Cybertruck is a tacticool brodozer for guys who like to shoot at cars for no good reason. Given that I've had a gun-massacre in my community, spending six figures just to be reminded of the massacre every time I look at my shiny new truck would be a poor use of that kind of money.

That said, my next vehicle purchase will be an EV pickup truck some time after 2025 -- but, since I'm not a tacticool bro, it won't be a Cybertruck.

Pretty awesome this thread is almost universally against this pile of garbage. Tesla really missed the mark.

All Teslas miss the mark. All EVs miss the mark. Am I doing this right?

(I am still trying to complete an ICE fill-up in 4.9 seconds like some of you are capable of lol)
