Housekeeping: Happy President's and Family Day!

It's a holiday Monday on both sides of the border. It's President's Day down here in the land of NASCAR and football that only has one 50-yard line. Meanwhile, the hockey-loving, syrup-guzzling folks on the other side are celebrating Family/Heritage day.

Before you kill me for indulging in stereotypes, please note I enjoy NASCAR, all forms of football (including soccer, the OG football), and hockey. I also put maple syrup on my pancakes in amounts that would concern my doctor. Gentle pokes of fun at both Yankees and Hosers aside, it's always nice getting a day off.

As per usual, we'll have a weekend rewind, and if news breaks, we'll be around. My only plans this weekend involve the couch and the Daytona 500.

Be safe, don't drink and drive, enjoy the weekend, and thanks for reading.

See you Tuesday.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Thank goodness you did not write "ice hockey".

And looking back on their 21st century history, how many Americans are thinking that they might have been better off with Elizabeth II as their Head of State? (Just kidding).

In the Army we learned "salute the rank, not the man (or woman). Sometimes you could feel good about both, sometimes not. So Monday I will happily go to work and celebrate my beloved nations history, before it all gets rewritten. I will continue to pray for Mr. Biden, as I do for Ms. Hochel and all the leaders in this country despite thinking they are terrible people and/or leaders. My best to my Canadian neighbors just a few miles from my adopted home. Keep the Labatts flowing :)
