Housekeeping: Memorial Day is Here Again

Monday marks Memorial Day in America, and therefore, TTAC is taking a break.

Yes, like many of you, we will be off Monday.

We’ll also be light on posts today, with a shutdown sometime in the early afternoon.

As per usual, celebrate/honor our war dead safely (especially with COVID still lurking, especially if you haven’t been vaccinated yet), don’t drink and drive, and get what we all hope is going to be a post-pandemic summer (at least in some parts of the world — the devastation elsewhere is heartbreaking) started off right.

We’ll be back next week, with the usual shenanigans.

Until then, enjoy your weekend.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

May everyone have a safe enjoyable holiday weekend. Take a moment to reflect on the intent behind Memorial day, for those who paid the ultimate price.

Thanks for all your hard work. May we remember on Memorial Day that every single soldier or sailor who gave their life for this country was a real human being, and that we should have a damn good reason and an equally good strategy when we send those human beings into harm's way.

@slavuta It is not a good idea to learn History by listening pop-musicians. At least try Hard Rock.
