Video of the Week: Check Twice Before Turning

It's the midpoint of the work week and you need a laugh. This week's video is a few years old but it's new to me, and hopefully to you.

End your workday by laughing at a hapless Jeep driver who got caught doing something we all do from time to time -- pulling out a little early. The end result? A mess all over the place.

The good news is that the Jeep didn't get hit. The bad news? Well just take a look and see for yourself.

Keep this in mind the next time you make a left turn, and double and triple-check before you pull out.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Front-chute mixers are used for tight spots, where backing up might be an issue.

What? No electronic “nanny” to avoid an accident like this?

Reply to Mike-NB@ because we can't reply to replies:

Isn't that part of the whole Jeep cachet? They can get away with being crude, rough and unsophisticated. Their flagship, the Wrangler sets the tone. Sacrifice on road competence for off-road competence.

Looks like the driver's window was open too! 😮😁
