(TTAC Hot Takes are video roundup posts which will occur whenever we can get Michael Accardi into hair and makeup. These posts are a mandate of our VerticalScope overlords, who are fascinated with the new video medium of YouTube. Watch our other videos here.)
TTAC had a fully alert crew in the snowy Canadian province of Detroit earlier this week for this year’s North American International Auto Show. The only person willing to put on a purple tie was Michael Accardi, so we filmed him checking out the show’s (rather limited) highlights.
From a new Volkswagen Jetta and counterfeit exhaust pipes on a future GAC offering, to the shockingly sturdy interior trim found in Ford’s new subcompact EcoSport, we covered just about everything.
As you can see, the coverage only took a couple of minutes. What does that tell you about the overall impressiveness of NAIAS this year?

Where are the people?!
This was filmed towards the end, after big reveal days.
The car company pressers were all on Monday so there wan’t a huge crowd there on Tuesday. I do most of my photography and video the second day of a show. I’m not going to be the first to have pics up online anyhow and it’s not worth dealing with the crowd to get a decent shot.
Mike- Do MORE drugs.
Not quite sure what the point of that video is, but at least I didn’t have to pay for it.
If it was tongue in cheek and I missed the point, then many apologies. I would have preferred a something a tiny bit more in depth on, for example the prevalence of the detestable fake tailpipes.
Apart from that, nice tie!
More playing with bad parts, less playing with camera zoom.
Oh yeah, nice hair!
Are we sure that’s not Ricky Rubio?
It’s “Michael’s Tie Goes On a Walkabout” not “For”. Geez. Get your Australianisms right.
That camerawork, tho…
Shame you didn’t get Jack B to do this. He has done videos for TTAC in the past.
You know, they have this new technology these days; it’s called…
a comb.
Well, that was crap.
