QOTD: What Should the Next Mazda MX-5 Miata Be?

Matt reported earlier today that Mazda is intent on keeping the Miata around basically forever. But it's unclear what it has in mind for the car in the future.
So, I ask of you -- what should the Miata be going forward? Should it remain an internal-combustion lightweight sports car, as long as internal-combustion engines exist? Should it go EV, hybrid, or PHEV? Maybe it could be completely reimagined? Heck, maybe it can go rotary?
Personally, I am hoping it stays as close to what it is now, but I can understand if it gets electrified in some way, especially if they can keep the weight down.
What about you, B&B?

Here is my hope. Platforms are expensive to develop. The current one was jointly developed with Fiat. Do a refresh or restyle on the current platform and change the drivetrain to an IMA hybrid system like the original 1800 pound manual transmission Honda Insight. Make the motor a Skyactive X for extra efficiency and you might be looking at a manual transmission sports car where the electrification stays hidden in the background and the car is turning in 60 miles per gallon.
Story idea or car design competition: design a compact sedan, a midsize sedan, coupe and/or wagon specifically for people 6'4" through 7'2". Not an SUV nor a crossover nor a raised chassis like the US Toyota Crown or Subaru Outback.
