QOTD: What Are You Looking Forward To?

Yesterday, I asked you to look back. Now, with 2023 less than two days away, I am asking you to look forward.

What are you looking forward to in the automotive industry? More EV adoption? The next Ford Mustang, or maybe a different model launch? A nice road trip? A new car?

Please try to keep this automotive-related, and if you must wander off-topic, let's try to avoid toxic topics. There's been a lot of vitriol around these parts lately (some of that is part of our new-ish moderation system, and I will be working to fix that after the new year) and I'd like to end the year on a positive note. 2022 was hard on a lot of us, and it's ended with a massive snowstorm and a lot of people stuck in airports. So let's be kind as the year winds down.

Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

I'd like to see TTAC go back to reviewing cars, err mostly SUVs. Sadly I'm watching this blog turning to post politically slanted articles that get replies from the same people. Sadly these people are perceived to be Russian trolls or the alt-right and all of them seem heck-bent on owning the "INTERNETZ".

There used to be a number of pragmatic and logical commenters here. They have either left or rarely make comments on here. See above about trolls and such. I fear that TTAC will continue its nearly vertical race to the bottom unless TTAC gets some control over the comments section.

Sadly, all of this could matter not a whit. Verticlescope could shut down this site and say due to declining revenue, etc and move on. It would be easy for them to do exactly that.

I realize that proofreading and any sort of style guides have long gone by the wayside of this blog. Perhaps I should have left when the moderators were dismissed or left. The overall quality of this site fell off a cliff after they were gone.

I'd like to see this site return to greatness. Pandora did have hope.

"vertical race to the bottom." I think I see what you did there.

El scotto--Thank you for your comment. I wondered if I was the only one that felt that way.

Hoping for lower used car prices so I can replace my daily driver without having to buy new.

For 3 or 4 years I've been saying "I'll be in the market for a new car late this summer." I have a hunch I'll be saying that for at least another year. There's nothing out there that's 1) available 2) fairly priced 3) that makes me salivate enough to want it bad.
