QOTD: SEMA SEMA SEMA

SEMA is happening right now in Las Vegas. We're not there -- it's not typically worth the travel costs for us to cover since we can typically cover anything in our wheelhouse remotely.

This is what we did with two posts this morning.

With the show going on, I am curious -- what are you looking forward to from SEMA, whether you're going to the show or just browsing coverage from sites like this one. Does the Dodge or VW news we posted earlier do anything for you?

The show is also, of course, heavily focused on aftermarket stuff. We don't cover a lot of it here, but if there are some aftermarket aspects you're interested in, please share it here.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

You just explained why auto shows are dying off.

They only cover aftermarket stuff when they pay to advertise. I have tried to finagle my company sending me out there but it always coincides with something more pressing sadly. While traditional shows are in fact dying off, SEMA seems to be growing with some of the most high end builders showcasing their work out there.

For me, SEMA seems less about the show and more about the lobbying. If SEMA can help keep some space for creativity in the automotive landscape, I am for it. https://www.semasan.com/federal-priorities

Im interested in the ICE related stories at SEMA. The 1,100hp hellephant engine is amazing. Nismo add ons for the new Z are interesting as well

SEMA turned into a truck show at some point in the last few years, and the more trucks it has the less I have any interest in it.
