Shanghai Auto Show: Chery Gets The Girls

Chery doesn’t have much new stuff in its booth this year.

There is a QQme covered in rosepetals and the usual assortment of not-quite-ready-for-market electric prototypes every Chinese company fields. But Chery trumps every other car manufacturer at the Shanghai show in one respect: Women.

When I walked by their booth, I was impressed. 30 at least, up against the wall. China’s finest establishments do not have this variety of beauties.

When they trooped off stage (exit left AND right) …

they were going …

and going …

and going …

and going …

… until the last stragglerette was gone.

I wish they had that many new cars! (That blue car on stage? I have no idea what it was.)

What is the scale for the flower car? It looks like a blown up beetle, a la Mini Countryman, but I can't tell if it just looks huge, or is huge.

Cars? There were cars on that stage? Chery seems to have grasped the concept: "If you ain't got the hardware, make sure you bring lots of.......software!" Sex sells. Or at the very least....distracts!

  • MaintenanceCosts This class of car competes hard with Chargers/Challengers and modded diesel pickups for the douchey-driving crown.
  • 28-Cars-Later Corey - I think I am going to issue a fatwa demanding a cool kids car meetup in July somewhere in the Ohio region.
  • Master Baiter Might as well light 50 $100 bills on fire.
  • Mike1041 At $300K per copy they may secure as much as 2 or 3 deposits of $1,000
  • Sgeffe Why on Earth can’t you just get the torque specs and do it yourself if you’re so-inclined?!
