The ’64 Datsun pickup had you guys stumped good, but I could tell you were working hard. There were some really good shots at an obscure vehicle. I’m guessing it was the fact that these very early Datsun pickups were essentially unheard of anywhere except pretty much just in LA and maybe the Bay Area. Now I try to avoid hints, but let’s just say that this vehicle was much more evenly distributed across the land, so you midwesterners have an equally good shot at it. Happy head scratching!

1986 Cavalier Hatchback
W-Body Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2 door. I would guess that since it is a “Curbside Classic”, it is an early model, like an 88-91.
Citation
1978 Oldsmobile Starfire Firenza
I’m going with a J hatchback too. I wanted to be all obscure and go with a Firenza or Skyhawk, but after a little research, I’ve decided it’s a Cavalier. Mazder3 thinks it’s an ’86…could be. However, they were made from ’82-’87. Oh what the heck, I’ll say it’s a 1987!
The photo looks like a close up of a thick B-pillar for a two-door pillared coupe. The Cavalier and Citation were already mentioned, so for the sake of saying something vaguely within the ballpark, how about a 1979-81 AMC Spirit?
1975 Chevrolet Monza, Buick Skyhawk or Olds Starfire hatchback
Paul, you don’t play fair, but I’ll bite: early Cavalier if the clue really is vertical, but if it is in actuality horizontal and you’re throwing a curve, my guess would be a finned valve cover from something.
As someone said yesterday in reply to my stating that the Cavalier was the American Corolla, as the “cockroach”, then your “evenly distributed” comment would certainly apply!
I think my daughter’s ’97 is still around somewhere, too!
’55 Pontiac
Jeep Cherokee
My comment isn’t showing up. This looks like the lower cladding on my Jeep Cherokee sport, but with the pic turned vertical, and the color worn off.
Whether it’s vertical or horizontal, that gap is big. It must be a Chrysler product. I’ll guess ’60s Valiant.
I’d say a mid-70s Chevy Monza hatchback. One of the better looking Chevrolet’s from that decade (quality issues aside…).
Sticking with the Datsun/Nissan theme…it looks remarkably similar to the trim on the cab of my ’85 720 series Nissan truck. The door is open in this picture though.
