Regular TTAC reader and prolific commentator (in the best way possible) Robert.Walter gets the win for his guess on the Bonneville. An honorary mention goes to 153624 for his guess of a similar vintage Grand Prix. For all I know, their hoods are identical.
I’m sorry for the size and low resolution of today’s clue, but them’s the brakes! Have fun.

So, was the use of “brakes” as opposed to “breaks” wordplay, or is it a clue?
I was thinking the same thing.
A “shooting brake” maybe?
I think the bracket sticking up is for a roof rack, but it’s missing the tubing. Maybe a Vista Cruiser?
That’s an idea. Obviously its not a pitot tube (this isn’t ‘the truth about planes’) so it’s either a roof rack or a turn signal repeater.
Any thoughts on a repeater that looks like that? I vaguely remember something GM from the 70s, perhaps an Olds or a Buick?
VW Kombi aka Bus.
A boat.
I second the Kombi bus, with one of those godawful “deer whistles” that some people stick onto their vehicles.
Early 60’s split window Westfalia / VW Camper with the roof hatch pop up. I’d say a ’62.
I’m with you.
