Curbside Classic Clue

Well, the R4 clue kept you all going for a while. I knew it was very similar to the R5, but not quite the same. Stingray could have nailed it, but self-doubt reared its ugly head. Our winner is Portnoy, from Germany, and a recent addition to the TTAC family. Willkommen!

Well, some of you complained about our wasting bandwidth on such a weak-chested effete little tin box like the R4. So let’s do something more manly; a rugged and macho vehicle thoroughly capable of hauling a family and towing a caravan with its sturdy Euro-style hitch.

I've got an equally scary looking hitch on the back of my spare Lada Niva.

I was going to say it was a VW Vanagon. Mit Wasserboxster. BTW - It's hard enough to try to guess US domestic Curbside Classics. Now we have to deal with Eurotrash vehicles?

Now you know how us "Eurotrash" readers feel trying to guess 99% of the CCs! ;)

The license plate, the trailer hitch and the fact that Paul was just in France were clues that this was French. The bumper and the shape of the panel says old. The rest is just my weird fascination with French cars. I've never owned one, and after my brief fling with an old Swedish car, it probably won't happen anytime soon, but I do scan eBay and Craig's list for "Citroen", "Peugeot" and "Renault". Citroens are particularly of interest to me. I remember a DS sedan on the back way we took to the mall on Cape Cod when I was a kid in the 70's. I just love them from afar.

I'd rather have a Matra Rancho.
