Live From Detroit, It's Cheerful Update With Ray Young

Given GM’s well-proven love for inflating the importance of even the tiniest achievements, you’d think they would muster up something a little more, uh, celebratory than this. After all, they could be slurping up $2B of treasury money (but aren’t). For now. And all they’ve got to celebrate the moment is Ray Young joylessly repeating coporate pablum while looking like he recently took a sip from the wrong grail. Get some sleep guys!

GM is lucky Chrysler is also being looked at by the "Task Force". Guys who grew up being graded on a curve are always happy to have the really bad student give his presentation first.

Theory: Auto Task Force hints "your request for March scares Barry a bit, looks bad with the masses". GM-"2B in March? Naw were improving so fast that we'll be OK until we get 16.6B in April!" Throw in the "increased production" announcement. This isn't for stock prices guys, Gm is fine tuning the styling of the "Begging Bowl". Too little like Ghandi they think you don't need it. Too much like Ghandi they figure you're not worth saving. Bunter

In related news, the Camaro will finally- FINALLY- go into full production this Monday. I asked GM on their twitter, and they say that the BYO Camaro portion of the website will be up on Monday, too. Now I want GM to survive. Again.
