Daily Podcast: Lieberman Edition

In today’s podcast with Jonny Lieberman (now featuring cross posting over at Autofiends.com), we discuss Lamborghini among other topics. Lieberman has a raging semi for the Italian bull brand, and I think that among the new ones they’re just ok. While I’m glad Lamborghini exists to make stupid, brazen, crass cars, I’d never own one. And certainly not as a daily driver. Old ones, sure, but the new Audified Gallardo? It’s got a ten cylinder tractor engine. So while a number of folks are reporting today on the rumor that Lamborghini is planning a front engined four door sedan along the lines of the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera, I’m not interested. The only four door Lambo for me is the LM002 – also known as the Rambo Lambo. Otherwise, they can take their “nuclear frog green” paint color and sod off. Listen near the end and Lieberman even skirts my question about whether he’d prefer a Lambo sedan or a Lambo shooting-brake. One thing’s for sure though: Pebble Beach 2050 is going to be fantastic.

I vote for the shooting-brake, there are plenty of fast sedans.

Ah yes, took a country drive on this beautiful first day of fall to pick some apples, and was mortified to dicover that the John Deere tractor rambling around the orchard was emitting an 8250 rpm shriek. Neat. Makes my Legacy GT's 6500 rpm redline so declasse.

Um, since Lambo came from the loins of a tractor company would the old engines be better called "tractor engines"? The Audi based engines I would think warrant their own dis.

Lambo wagon!!! The sedan is quite lame though. If it comes out as ugly as the Panamera, I will cry. Lamborghini's are supposed to be wildly impractical, stupid cars that try mercilessly to kill you. How can you make that into a sedan? The only acceptable "4 door coupe" is the Rapide. But, holy eff is that car beautiful. Still, I've got to put in a good word for the mildly brand defiling (by my definition) "Audified Gallargo". I love the way it looks and that tractor motor has an engine note that makes my knees weak.
