Just the other day, we reported on Mark Reuss's comments suggesting that a new car or crossover was coming and it would be based on the Chevrolet Corvette C8 platform but it wouldn't use the Corvette name.

Now, a new report suggests it's official.

General Motors president (and, IIRC, former TTAC commenter) Mark Reuss had quite the Investor Day reveal -- Chevrolet has a C8-based performance car in the works. And it won't share the iconic Corvette nomenclature.

Chevrolet has been using a "metered" approach for ordering the high-zoot Z06 trim of the 2023 Corvette.

Meaning the order banks were opened and then temporarily closed. Now they're open again. Oh, and deliveries have begun.

Now that the Spark hatchback has shuffled off this mortal coil, the Trax serves as Chevy’s lowest-priced vehicle. For 2024, the bowtie brand is giving it an overhaul by binning its awkward appearance and overhauling the drivetrain. At present, SC will only work on certain divided highways and interstates around the nation. After this update, which is scheduled for later this calendar year, it’ll be functional on hundreds of thousands of additional miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada – including a combination of undivided and divided highway infrastructure.

We all know GM takes the C8 Corvette Z06 very seriously; putting that particular engine amidships surely took an act of divinity and Alfred P. Sloan himself. But a recent inside look at dealer training materials provided to sales hacks shows just how seriously they're taking the thing - pitting it against a $300,000 Ferrari.

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV will be added to the Chevy lineup as the brand tries to increase its presence in the EV market.

It will include a SS performance version. Traditionalists, clutch those pearls.
