Bright colors and lowered prices try to attract customers to a California used car lot

A surge in vehicles coming off lease agreements has boosted used vehicle inventory in the United States — a trend that’s proving to be good news for dealers and a headache for Ford, General Motors and FCA.

Three or four years ago, used vehicle inventories were at a low point. U.S. automakers weren’t offering bargain leases during the recession and were apprehensive to begin doing so in the years following. Such isn’t the case anymore, with an estimated 12 million low-mileage vehicles set to come off lease by 2019, according to Reuters. Customers leased those vehicles between 2014 and 2016 when automakers experienced a sales and leasing boom.

2017 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman Crew Cab 4x4 EcoDiesel

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has recalled 1 million Ram pickups in North America as the side airbags and seatbelt pretensioners may not operate as designed in the event of a rollover.

According to The Detroit News, the recall covers the 2013-2016 Ram 1500 and Ram 2500 and 2014-2016 Ram 3500. On Friday, FCA stated one death, two injuries and two accidents may be linked to the issue. Apart from the U.S., around 216,007 vehicles are affected in Canada, 21,668 in Mexico and 21,530 outside the NAFTA landscape.

911 50th Anniversary Edition _6_

Porsche was set to roll out a plug-in hybrid version of the next-generation 911, however the German automaker has now decided not to move forward with the project.

Development lead for the 911 and 718, August Achleitner, told Car And Driver in a recent interview the plug-in hybrid 911 would have introduced too many compromises. While the electrified sportscar would have been extremely efficient, the hybrid powertrain would have made it several hundred pounds heavier than a standard 911, robbing it of some athleticism. Uber’s infamously embattled autonomous car division took another hit Saturday after one of its self-driving Volvo XC90 test cars was involved in an accident in Tempe, Arizona. The technology company has since halted the pilot program, parking its self driving fleets in Arizona, Pittsburgh and San Francisco until further notice.
