2015 was only 7 years ago. $58k is still a whole lot of $ to pay for a vehicle. FOrtunately one can buy a flagship vehicle with great active and passive safety for half this amount, if one does the SMART thing and buys a pre-owned luxury flagship vehicle. they have historically been SCREAMING BARGAINS. A breadvan on stilts SUV, wether the more compact Macan or the more bloated Cayenne will never pass as a Flagship Vehicle. No matter how well it drives or how reliable it suprisingly is. It still is a breadvan on stilts.

  If you buy one of these SCREAMING BARGAIN ex-flagship cars, you better find a mechanic who's also a SCREAMING BARGAIN. Otherwise, these cars will drain your bank account quicker than an online babe from Moscow named Svetlana, who just needs a stable, mature American man to help her start her hair salon in Florida.

  Extra Credit: Now consider the shape of the distribution curve for new vehicle transaction prices. Hint: Take your normal distribution (bell curve, Gaussian if you're into that) and give it an aggressive slope on the left side [because no manufacturers sell new vehicles for anything close to zero dollars], then skew it right with a long tail, but not too long [because manufacturers lack imagination].   Toolguy, From what year is that second link? Asking because dollar to euro is close to par today. 2 years ago it was a 30% difference.

  I was only posting a curve which represents the general shape of the U.S. new vehicle transaction price distribution in any given year. The link actually represents a very limited subset of used cars in Germany from July-August of 2009.
