QOTD: What's Your Favorite Fall Movie, Non-Horror Division?

Who says every QOTD has to be about cars? Especially on a Friday?

Looking out my window, I see a lot of fall colors in the trees. Looking at my phone app, I see that the weather should be very nice this weekend. So I'm thinking about pumpkins and apple cider and all that jazz. And baseball, and football, though given my choices in MLB, college football, and NFL teams, I'd rather not be.

Ahem. Anyway, it might be nice during the day, but it gets chilly at night. If you're not a sports fan or just need a break from it, it's movie time. So tell us, what is your favorite movie that is either autumn-themed or set during this time of year? If it's car-centric or just involves characters driving cool cars, well, that's a bonus. Save the horror films for next week, please.

Go forth and speak, B and B.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Planes, trains, and automobiles (1987). A fall classic, with plenty of hilarious car scenes.

Silver Linings Playbook . Yes it's got football in it , but it's a comedy , drama , love story , and a fun movie while also addressing mental illness . It was released in theaters November 16, 2012 and when I saw it three months later in mid February at a week day matinee the theater was still one quarter full - that late in the run there is usually ten people or less on a weekday . An enjoyable surprise at the theater on 6 dollar Tuesday !

Great movie, but as someone who was married to someone with serious mental illness issues, it was intensely uncomfortable to watch...probably because so much of it rings absolutely true.
