stellantis joins vw gm in pulling twitter ads

Stellantis is now among the ranks of large companies that have paused or pulled advertising on Twitter.

Whether it's because of Elon Musk's chaotic management of the platform or because Stellantis doesn't want to advertise on a platform owned by the head of a competing brand, or both, the company is going to step away.

“We’re pausing paid advertizing [sic] posts until we have a clearer understanding of the future of the platform under its new leadership,” a Stellantis spokesperson told Reuters.

As a reminder, Stellantis owns Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall.

Stellantis follows General Motors and Volkswagen Auto Group in pulling ads from Twitter, at least for the time being. We'll be keeping an out to see how other automakers react.

Paying $44 billion for a $24 billion company on an impulse buy is impressive, but turning that $24 billion company into a $4 billion company in a week is more impressive still. The rich really aren't like you and me.

@ Deanst - Perhaps Elon has crossed the line where "power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely". History is full of examples.

FM, I'm not on social media so I will take your word for it that Twitter has "tons of offensive crap". Did all this offensive crap happen in the last week? Or just the stuff you find offensive? I think banning a sitting president is offensive. Did Elon ban Joe Biden? I mean Joe said gas was $5 a gallon when he took office. In reality it was $2.37. Out right lying by the president is offensive. So Donald and Joe should both be banned ? But only one has been. Hmmm.
