RIP Toyota C-HR in USA

The Toyota C-HR appears dead in these United States, but will soldier on in Europe.

Toyota has a next-generation C-HR planned, and it won't be sold here.

"Effective following the 2022 model year, Toyota will discontinue sales of the C-HR in the U.S. and Canada. We are constantly evaluating our product lineup and we remain committed to the compact SUV segment. With the recent introduction of the Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross Hybrid, two great products that offer a great combination of utility and efficiency, and the best-selling RAV4, we are providing multiple options for compact SUV buyers," the company said in a statement.

As noted in that statement, the Corolla Cross is similar enough in size and price to the C-HR that Toyota will still have an offering for buyers shopping in that class.

We don't mean to brag, but our own Chris Tonn called this a bit over a year ago.

The C-HR will be gone after the 2022 model year. With the 2022 calendar year closing soon, that means time is limited if you still want one. Some 2022s will likely be on dealer lots through the early months of 2023 -- there are always a few units hanging around, and the industry-wide production problems of the past few years have increased that chance -- but don't wait too long.

I always thought the HRV and CHR looked similar and ugly and unuseful

"Some 2022s will likely be on dealer lots through the early months of 2025..." fixed that there for you. 😊

Never made sense that these didn't offer AWD or really an advantage over any other car in any way.
