Honda has dabbled in EVs, but its first mass-market model doesn’t go on sale in the U.S. until 2024. The Prologue will be the inaugural Honda EV for our market, and today, the automaker shared details and images of the new SUV.


Using what it calls a “neo-rugged” design direction, Honda penned the Prologue using inspiration from the Honda e EV. It’s positioned above the CR-V and alongside the Passport in the Honda lineup and is around the same size outside as its gas-powered counterpart. Honda hasn’t shared interior dimensions yet, but the Prologue’s 121.8-inch wheelbase is almost a foot longer than the Passport’s, which should afford generous interior passenger and cargo space.


The Prologue’s cabin features an 11.3-inch infotainment display and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. A panoramic roof and a unique charcoal/light gray interior theme inspired by “fresh fallen snow on the mountains.” 


The Prologue doesn’t go on sale until the 2024 model year, but Honda sees an opportunity to prime buyers for the full EV experience with the CR-V Hybrid. The automaker says it will push a special two-year lease deal in zero-emissions states and hopes to increase Hybrid sales to account for half of the overall CR-V sales. 


Honda developed the Prologue with help from General Motors and will release a line of affordable EVs with the American automaker starting in 2026. Despite its sluggishness in moving toward electrification, Honda says it will introduce 30 new EVs globally by 2030 and plans to transition fully to electric vehicle sales by 2040.

    This looks really surprisingly different from the Blazer EV. It's more boring, but it's also more Honda, and for that reason alone it will be taken a lot more seriously in US markets.

    Seems like Honda is taking the same approach they did with their first SUV’s- rebadge models from other makes to dip their toes in the market before going all-in.

  • El scotto @jwee; Sir, a great many of us believe that Musk is somewhere (pretty high) on the spectrum and move on.I work on the fringes of IT. Most of my presentations get picked over extensively and intensely at meetings. I'm smart enough to know I'm not that smart and willingly take advice from the IT crew. I bring them Duck Doughnuts too. We also keep a box of Crayolas in the meeting room.At one meeting an IT guy got way into the details of my presentation, the meeting went long as we discussed my target audience. Same IT guy insisted it was a disaster and would fail miserable and that I was stupid. Yeah, F-boms get dropped at our meetings. I finally had enough and asked if he was such an expert, did he want to stand up in front of 30 senior executives and give the presentation? His response was a flat "NO". He got the box of Crayolas. For you non-military types that means shut up and color. Musk is the same as that IT guy, lots of gyrations but not much on follow-through. Someone just needs to hand him a box of Crayolas.

  • Tassos 2015 was only 7 years ago. $58k is still a whole lot of $ to pay for a vehicle. FOrtunately one can buy a flagship vehicle with great active and passive safety for half this amount, if one does the SMART thing and buys a pre-owned luxury flagship vehicle. they have historically been SCREAMING BARGAINS. A breadvan on stilts SUV, wether the more compact Macan or the more bloated Cayenne will never pass as a Flagship Vehicle. No matter how well it drives or how reliable it suprisingly is. It still is a breadvan on stilts.
