Used Car of the Day: This Ramcharger Owner Will Take Gun in Trade

If you like old-school large SUVs, this Ramcharger might catch your eye.

And if you have a gun, that might be all you need to make it yours.

This seller in Texas is asking $5K for a vehicle that he or she claims runs pretty well, despite the occasional puff of smoke, but has some minor rust issues -- as well as interior trim problems and a sagging headliner. It has a 318 with a four-barrel carb, and there are around 122K miles on the clock.

Oh, and if you don't have $5K? Well, the seller will consider a 308 rifle or a 22-long with cash. Only in Texas.

(PS: Don't @ me if I got the gun specs wrong. That's what the copy says and I am not well-versed enough in firearms to know if it needs to be written differently.)

Anyway, go check it out.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

The word-of-mouth price: 10 100-dollar bills and a used meth lab. Oh, and show me how to use the lab.

    Firearms news (2013)

TL;DR: “Aggressive patrolling by international combined naval forces and the increase in the use of private armed security contractors onboard vessels, have clearly been an effective deterrent. According to Thomas Kelly, the US State Department official in charge of counter-piracy policy four out of five container ships and tankers now deploy armed guards. Once pirates realise this, they will look for a softer target," said Chris Hayman, Chairman of Seatrade, organisers of Middle East Workboats and Offshore Marine.

The seller is just inviting trouble if he expects each potential buyer to show up to the test drive armed with a firearm.
