Kudos to AthensSlim for calling out the Saturn on the first guess. I’m guessing it’ll take a bit longer for this one, like say, the twelfth guess. No, that’s not a clue. But here’s one: it’s half the name of a famous belt. Good luck.

1600MKII already figured out the clue. The mysterious belt is the Van Allen radiation belt. I was also thinking astronomically in regards to this reference at first, but was pretty sure that this wasn't a Euro-market Ford Orion.
That's gotta be it!! Aster - oid belt!! And I kept thinking of ORION's belt!
