Default Chris' Find of the Day: 1986 Isuzu Impulse

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Isuzu-Impuls...m=111755166278

At $3200, how can you go wrong? RWD, good handling, 110hp (IIRC)..this could be a budget alternative to the almighty Corolla AE86.

Ok, maybe Joe Isuzu wrote that line. I haven't driven one of these. But I love how these look, and they are certainly not found with any regularity on the road anymore.

I'd be quite tempted...

North/south engine and driveline, almost looks European with its clean styling, too bad Isuzu didn't have a bigger engineering department, their diesel engines are almost legendary.

Though, IIRC, based on the Chevette platform. Wonder what would be an appropriate engine swap candidate to double the power? I think the tranny's a T-5, so plenty of interesting things will bolt up.

You are correct, Giugiaro, maybe that new turbo 2.3 Ford engine, that would more than double the hp and will bolt to a t5, as light as this car is, it would be a hotrod!
