It’s taken a bit longer than planned, but we have our newest news contributor all settled in and raring to go. Please Welcome Jason Sakurai to our little, weird corner of the car Internet. He’ll be our next newshound, stepping into the role Steph Willems vacated.

I’ll let him get into the specifics, but Jason comes from a background that mixes automotive enthusiast journalism and marketing and P.R. He’s got an interest in off-road vehicles and trucks and lives in the Pacific Northwest.

We’re excited to have him on board. We’ve been short-staffed for a while now, and his arrival means more of what you come to TTAC for — interesting, insightful, and thoughtful reporting on the automotive industry.

Please give him a warm welcome. He’ll be shepherding our news efforts for the foreseeable future, helping Matt and I and the rest of the team as we aim to keep you abreast of the happenings in the automotive world.

We’re excited to have our next top newsbot. Let’s keep ‘er rolling.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.
