Housekeeping: TTAC Takes Juneteenth Off
The edict came down from our corporate parent last week: Juneteenth is now an official company-wide holiday.
That means we’ll be off on Friday, June 19th.
As is often the case when we’re off, there may be some pre-written posts that go live. And since not every car company is observing the day, if news breaks and one of us is near a keyboard, we’ll try to catch it and post. I, myself, will spend part of the day learning about a refresh for a particular German sedan (under embargo until the 23rd).
Our weekend posting schedule will likely remain the same, even with Father’s Day being this Sunday.
So, until we’re back full-throttle on Monday, take some time to reflect on the experiences of others, and enjoy Father’s Day, however you may celebrate it during a time of social distance. And if your dad has departed, or you don’t get along, I understand Father’s Day may be fraught for you. In that case, simply have a good weekend and we’ll be back on Monday.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

@Arthur Dailey–If you haven’t already seen it go on Jay Leno’s Garage where he has a video on his Merlin engine going over the history of the Merlin and running his own Merlin engine which is not in a car or airplane. A really nice engine with lots of power.
"And KGB wasn't only bad" you say? I can't imagine anyone saying this unless they're trying to live with having been a collaborator or informer for them, slavuta. Maybe it is better you just leave this topic alone.
Ridiculous pandering. They STILL won't be happy.
Years ago, I worked with an African-American woman (like me, a native Texan) that refused to celebrate Juneteenth. She thought it was stupid that people would celebrate the fact that they didn't find out they'd been freed until two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and two months the Civil War had ended. Juneteetnth has been a thing here in Texas for a long time, and it's just started to become a thing elsewhere in the last few years.
