Housekeeping: Happy Thanksgiving, Turkeys

It’s that time of year again — the time for gluttony, football, and politics with Uncle Argyle. Some of you will get smashed, many of you will eat potatoes mashed, and some of you will bash others in a fight for that last 60-inch TV at the big-box store.

Don’t drink and drive. Don’t overeat. Do come back Monday for the usual shenanigans.

We’ve been a little light on content this week as it’s been a slow news week. That won’t be the case in the week coming up. The 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show takes place in the City of Angels next week and I’ll be there. Between that and the usual news and reviews, we’ll be keeping your post-Thanksgiving plate full of automotive goodness. Second helpings encouraged.

A few housekeeping notes: We’ll be light on posts after 3 p.m. Eastern today, as we settle in to enjoy the holiday ourselves. Piston Slap will take a week off, with readers getting two columns for the price of one next week.

Stay safe out there. Once again, don’t drink and drive. And if you play in a pickup football game, maybe don’t play tackle if you’re over the age of 30 (I speak from experience on this).

Enjoy the holiday, and see youse guys Monday.

I hope all have a great Thanks Giving meal with their families and friends, with limited quarrels. Oh, TTAC WTF is that BS at the top of the site, those adverts? Why? Can't you TTAC come up with a better idea?

@Big Al from Oz Oops! Should of been an "L" not a "K". Quite funny and maybe some might consider apt.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm heading to see the smallest tiny human in my family; the devious little malcontent (just kidding, she's pretty chill). It'll be a total of 200 miles all told. I'm hoping it doesn't devolve into a discussion of many blood-sucking creatures. At least the roads are still good.

I'm going to work tomorrow (Doubletime and a half!), and since I'm a poultryphobe, my dinner is sitting in my refrigerator, A big bag of snow peas and a quart of shrimp fried rice. I'll wash it down with good old Pepsi. I would take that over almost anything I've had for Thanksgiving, except for the time my friend's wife made fried Perch and Walleye, with her amazingly great baked red potatoes. It's hard to beat Walleye period, IMHO, but her steamed stuffed Catfish with vegetables is the single best thing I've ever eaten. She says she's going to make it for me on my birthday. I can hardly wait until July!

Happy Thanksgiving from certain distant lands! Keep those far from home this holiday in at least one prayer or good thought! And now back to recalling the fun test drive I took of a (manual!) Mazda3 just days before I departed...maybe I’ll see one in my garage when I return home!
