Dealers' Associations Ask Courts to Block FTC's Ban On Hidden Fees

While most car dealerships are honest, legitimate businesses, some don’t hold their customers in such high regard, charging more than they should without the right disclosures about what the fees are for. Hidden fees aren’t just annoying and shady, though, they can be very expensive, and last year, a Federal Trade Commission ruling aimed to shut the practice down.


The National Automobile Dealers Association protested the decision, joining the Texas Auto Dealers Association in filing a petition in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, leading to a pause on the FTC's rule.

  • Wolfwagen I have a 2003 version in grey. IIRC the ARC trim was with the v6 only (it was supposed to be more luxurious than sporting) I picked it up in late 2022 for $1500 with about 115K miles, but it need a bit more work which I did myself. It's comfortable and with the trans in sport mode, it is fairly quick and rock solid at 80-90 MPH even with worn subframe bushings (this summer's/fall project). I would have loved the 4cyl but it is what it is. My only complaint is the lack of room to fix anything in the engine bay and accessing the hold downs for the parking brake pivots

  • El scotto Tim, to be tactful I think a great many of us would like a transcript of TTAC's podcast. 90 minutes is just too long for most of us to listen. -evil El Scotto kicking in- The blog at best provides amusement, 90 minutes is just too much. Way too much.
