Used Car of the Day: 1994 Jeep Cherokee

Today's used car of the day is a Jeep of a different feather. This 1994 Jeep Cherokee is cheap and ready for a good home.
All it takes to get into this 4.0-liter with a five-speed manual transmission is $1,000 and patience. The Texas-based seller says that this two-wheel drive Cherokee runs, but ingress and egress are challenging due to balky doors.
The seller did buy a new fuel pump and fuel tank, but the mileage isn't known.
Sounds like the perfect project vehicle for a Jeep enthusiast with plenty of time and money on their hands.
Take a peek here.

The XJ platform is super interesting to me, more so after owning one and working on it some (but not a lot, because it didn't need a lot). The overall size is almost perfect; add more space to the back seat (and carry it to the wheelbase) if we are starting over.
One could argue, if one knew anything about vehicles, that the 4-door XJ is a major reason why U.S. fleet [all of everyone's vehicles averaged together] fuel economy is so bad in 2023.
Is it just me, or was the front clip of this car not original to a 1994? (I believe that style of grille and headlight/parking light bezel was replaced in the late 1980s.)
Two big concerns: condition of engine and rust. The XJ platform is prone to rust to the point of collapse. As for the engine, as long as the block is not cracked and doesn't blow smoke like a mosquito fogger, it's a worth while project.
With a wrench, patience, YouTube videos, and a six pack, this could be a labor of love!!🚗🚗🚗
Perfect for David "Rusty" Tracy?
