Chevrolet

Chevrolet was co-founded by a race car driver by the name of Louis Chevrolet and founder of General Motors, William C. Durant. Chevrolet was a successful and widely influential brand to the point where one out of every cars sold in the United States in 1963 was a Chevrolet - a market share which is unheard of in today's marketplace.

QOTD: Should There Be More Sedans?

Just a bit ago I opined that GM/Chevy are being, uh, not very smart by killing the Chevrolet Malibu.

I extended that out to Ford and Stellantis, as well. While I don't think every OEM needs a sedan -- the Subaru Legacy is unlikely to be missed -- I think the Detroit Three do.

So, reader, I ask of you -- am I wrong?

Automotive Execs Speculate About Hypothetical EV Camaro and Mustang Sedan

General Motors president Mark Reuss threw some shade at the all-electric Ford “Mustang” Mach-E by suggesting an electrified Chevrolet Camaro would not go the crossover route if he had his druthers. However, he still said such a vehicle would ideally seek to broaden the model’s appeal beyond the hardcore enthusiast base. In related news, Ford CEO Jim Farley recently hinted that there’s a Mustang sedan under consideration — noting that the nameplate would hopefully play host to a V8 powertrain for as long as possible.

Chevy Detailed a Longer Range and Lower Price for the Silverado EV RST

Chevrolet is readying deliveries of the Silverado EV RST, and the truck’s already impressive specs just got a boost. The automaker now states a range of 440 miles for the luxurious electric pickup, increasing the originally advertised 400-mile range. That makes it almost as robust as the more stripped-down 4WT (Work Truck) trim, which boasts a 450-mile driving range.

Junkyard Find: 1984 Chevrolet Corvette

Out of all the eight generations of Chevrolet Corvette production, the biggest success in the showrooms was the 1968-1982 C3. The C3 looked wild and boasted Jimi Hendrix and Joan Didion provenance, but it handled like a truck and power numbers were grim once the Malaise Era took hold. The General decided he'd be wise to make its C4 successor a cornerin' and brakin' machine, and today's Junkyard Find is a first-year C4 discovered in a Northern California car graveyard last year.

QOTD: Which Car Comes to Mind When You Think Muscle?

Over the long holiday weekend I had a conversation about muscle cars from the late '60s/early '70s -- and also saw a bunch of them being posted on the Twitter/X account of a famous performance-car builder.

I enjoyed seeing the Camaros and Chevelle SSs and whatever else. It helped put a smile on my face after the weird year that was 2023. When gazing at a particularly lovely restored Chevelle SS, I thought to myself "man that's what a '60s/'70s muscle car looks like."

Then I realized there were several models that could be the primary representative of that era.

The New Chevy Blazer EV Has Stumbled Twice in Recent Tests - Hard

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has recently failed in two high-profile tests by automotive publications, raising questions about its electrical system and software.

The Chevy Equinox EV Won't Start At $30,000 After All

  • ED I don't know what GM is thinking.I have a 2020 one nice vehicle.Got rid of Camaro and was going to buy one.Probably won't buy another GM product.Get rid of all the head honchos at GM.This company is a bunch of cheapskates building junk that no one wants.
  • Lostjr Sedans have been made less practical, with low rooflines and steeply raked A pillars. It makes them harder to get in and out of. Probably harder to put a kid in a child seat. Sedans used to be more family oriented.
  • Bob Funny how Oldsmobile was offering a GPS system to help if you were lost, yet GM as a company was very lost. Not really sure that they are not still lost. They make hideous looking trucks, Cadillac is a crappy Chevy pretending to be fancy. To be honest, I would never step in a GM show room now or ever. Boring, cheap ugly and bad resale why bother. I get enough of GM when i rent on trips from airports. I have to say, does anybody at GM ever drive what everyone else drives? Do they ever then look at what crap they put out in style fit and finish? Come on, for real, do they? Cadillac updated slogan should be " sub standard of the 3rd world", or " almost as good as Tata motors". Enough said.
  • Sam Jacobs I want a sedan. When a buy a car or even rent one, I don’t want to ride up high. I don’t want a 5-door. I want a trunk to keep my stuff out of sight. It’s quieter, cars handle better, I don’t need to be at the same height as a truck. I have a 2022 Subaru Legacy Touring XT, best car ever, equipped as a luxury sedan, so quick and quiet. I don’t understand automakers’ decisions to take away sedans or simply stop updating them — giving up the competition. The Camry and Accord should not be our only choices. Impala and Fusion were beautiful when they were axed.
  • Spamvw I think you need to remember WHY the big 2 and 1/2 got out of the car business. Without going political, the CAFE standards signed into law meant unless you had a higher gas mileage fleet, you couldn't meet the standards. The Irony is that, the law made sedans so small with low roof lines, that normal people migrated to SUV's and Trucks. Now we get worse mileage than before.
