First car was a 59 Plymouth. Lots of original Beetles, a van, both styles VW pickups. 3.8L Jaguar Mk II. Norton Dominator SS cafe racer bike. Two Rabbits, one carbed, one diesel. 88 Thunderbird Supercoupe. Subaru Turbo XT. Two Troopers, one stick, one auto. Jeep Cherokee Sport. Two Corollas. 97 Grand Marquis. Oh, and a 55 GMC 3/4 ton panel truck for the Norton.
Like big cities and semi-deserted beaches during the off-season. Grew up in a tourist town. I am the epitome of an anti-tourist. Lived in NYC for ten years and only went to the top of the Empire State building one time, during a fogstorm, with my date.
Eclectic reader. Speak and read Spanish fairly well...way beyond HS/college level, just not quite there at level of indistinguishable from a native.
Believe in working hard and playing hard. Former dog, finally found the love of my life, been together for a quarter of a century plus, and still in love. We have a great son, my other great joy in life, who is 21 and starting his own business to make money while he tries to figure out what he wants to be "when he grows up". His old man took thirteen years from HS to his BS in Comp. Sci...glad my son is taking time to enjoy life, while staying busy...smarter than his old man was in his early twenties.
Life is good, even if the economy isn't.
I know I won't live forever, but I've been around long enough not to let myself get old.
My younger wife, our son, and my Panther all help to keep me young.
As Ray Davies wrote in his song "O Lucky Man", "If you have a friend on whom you can rely, you are a lucky man."
My wife and son are both friends on whom I can rely, as is my "identical twin from another mother", whom I have known since college.
I am a lucky man. I hope you are too.
My forum name derives from the fact that my Grand Marquis is like a low-flying plane, flying low and quick, beneath the radar.
A Prairie Tan Panther is the antithesis of a red muscle car...hardly draws a glance, since I can keep it in my lane and can maintain posted highway speeds, even in turns (plus a bit more, depending on conditions...80mph is the new 65, at least if you're careful.
Though 75 is a bit safer, from a ticket perspective. Just glad the 55mph national limit is dead, and that autonomous cars haven't taken over.
"Red Barchetta".
