badcoffee Exfordtech said Got an 89 Escort wagon with 120k on it from an auction in 2000. $125 including auction fees. 5 speed stick. Replaced the clutch, inner and outer tie rod ends, front pads and rotors, machined the rear drums and replaced shoes and hardware. Probably spent $250 total (I was a Ford tech at the time). Consistent 35 to 40 mpg on a 100 mile round trip highway commute. Had to let it go when rear strut towers were rotted through at 330k. Did nothing else to it but LOF and one set of tires. **** good cheap car. My folks had an 86 Tempo they bought new and kept running as a n+1 car until 2006 when it did the same thing.*

HoldenSSVSE We've all heard it. The VW owner who had the 1.8 turbo from the early 2000's that never consumed a drop of oil, never ate a coil, and just ran and ran and ran.

The unstoppable '88 Hyundai Excel.

The Iron Duke '84 Fiero that still in my garage all original with 175K miles.

So lets hear it. What "outlier" car have you owned that has a history of being a reliability nightmare, that just ran, and ran, and ran, and ran.
