I'm currently driving a 93 BMW 525. With my daughter now driving I'm going to give it to her and buy something else.
I drive ~30 miles RT each day, almost all highway. I paddle (SUP) 3+ times each week, so the ability to carry boards on the roof is a requirement. I hike a lot on the weekends, most of that driving is on paved roads with some gravel through in. Nothing too rutted. I do make 4 or 5 surf trips each year, a trip for me is 1100 miles RT. I had looked at a 4Runner but I really don't need 4x4. I've driven Outbacks, they were ok but the seats didn't impress me (the 525 has me spoiled).Â* I'd like something with decent mpg that I can load up and go w/o having to worry too much about. Sometimes I'm traveling solo, other times it's just my daughter and her friends or some of my friends.Â* I do a good bit of car camping. Considering a BMW 3 series wagon, an Odyssey or a Highlander. I love my 5 series and hope a 3 series would be as reliable. The Ody would allow me to crash in the back when I go surf and store my boards inside. The Highlander I looked at seemed plenty roomy and comfortable, not sure how it would hold my gear though. Budget is 15k, zip code is 28804. |
