Someone found patent drawings for the 2015 Ford Escort, and posted them online. *They were all I needed to make a computer model of it; which I will then take apart, flatten the pieces, scale them, and make a 1/64 scale model for my display case. *Here is my try at a picture; if it doesn't work, l posted a link below to the picture:

Anyway, it is far enough along that I can now compare it to a paper model of a Ford Focus (you can see it in the above picture) as well as the other cars in my display.

From the B pillar forward, it is roughly the same as a Focus in terms of size and side profile. *The windshield, wheels, and other details came out the same size; the width and height of the finished model is also the same; so the scale must be very close.

They lengthened the wheelbase a few inches for additional legroom, and lengthened the rear doors even more (they stretch further back along the rear wheel opening.) *They also added a trunk, which the Focus does not have. *The end result -- a car the same size as the Ford Fusion, but built to a lower price point. To me at least, it is no longer a compact car in size; contrary to Ford's press release, but a mid-size car.

I also wonder if, given the worsening economic situation in Europe, they plan on releasing the Escort instead of the once again delayed Mondeo. *I would think it would be slotted in the Fusion/Mondeo's place in markets where the Fusion may be considered too pricey; rather than as an alternative to the Focus or Fiesta.

That is correct. *One more try: This is the initial textures based on the patent drawings; I have since textured it using photographs like the one you posted so it looks like the real thing now. *The other model is my model of the Ford EcoSport, of course. The wheelbase has been stretched to about 112 inches; same as the Fusion; giving it the same basic dimensions as the Fusion.

Now that I got linking pictures to work a little better, here is a perspective view with the photo textures applied:

In Internet Explorer (perhaps other browsers as well); if you right click on the picture, you can copy the image URL. *Then paste it into the address bar of a new tab, press Enter, and you can see it full screen. *I still cannot zoom pictures from within the forum, but I could expand your picture that way. Here is an updated picture of my display; I added the Mk3 and Mk4 Ford Escort to complement this new model when it is ready:
