Video of the Week: "The Car Sounds Like..."
This one spoke to my past, brief life as a service writer. For those who don't know, service writers often use the term "customer states" followed by the customer's description of the problem.
Like so: "Customer states there is a creaking noise when turning left at under 15 mph."
This video from YouTube account Just Rolled In is a compilation of noises made by vehicles in for repair -- complete with customer descriptions and the sounds themselves. My favorite? "Customer states it sounds like there is a husky underhood." Darned if it doesn't actually sound like that.
Happy Wednesday, the work week is on the downslope. Kill a few minutes of company time by watching this.

A husky what? Guy? Tool box? Car mats?
Years ago I heard a very light clunk noise in my Chevy work truck that seemed to come from the front end. The next time I had it in the shop I asked the pro mechanic to take a look but he couldn't find any problems. Months later I jacked up each front wheel so I could push and pull at the 12&6 and 9&3 positions but both wheels seemed tight with no play. Months after that I was changing the oil myself and I bumped the side step under the driver's door as I slid under the car. CLUNK. The weld holding the tubular portion of the side step/nerf bar had broken at one end.
