Today the UCOTD is a 2014 Cadillac ELR. I don't think we've had one of these before.

This one has the Luxury Package and about 83K miles on the clock. It also has adaptive cruise control and new wheels and tires.

It also has heated seats and the CUE infotainment system was replaced somewhere along the line. The seller will include the chargers -- both Level 1 and Level 2.

The seller tells us the car is in good shape and the asking price for this Seattle-area ride is $12,500.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Devil's advocate, I LOVE the ELR, I LOVE the idea of the ELR. I get that it's not gonna break speed records. Yes, it was overpriced out of the box and once GM had to hit the Panic Button with the $20K+ discounts I almost went for it (had just paid off my 2007 Miata PRHT and was gonna keep it for when I wanted to go zoom-zoom) YES you only get 60 or so miles of EV range, but fill the gas tank and you're good for 300 miles. Run it dry, fill up again. No need to plug in and wait. The one thing people don't consider is if the Tesla had "laid an egg" out of the box, the ELR would've been the big "Hollywood and Influencer greenie show-off car". History went differently, and the ELR never got to go to the parties.

I worked for a very large dealer group back in 2014 and this sat in the crown jewel spot at our GM store showroom. It sat, and sat...and sat. Thing was a boat anchor. I remember the price being insane for a re-skinned Chevy Volt that was also a boat anchor
  • Ige65815723 Oh, lookie, another EV fanatic disconnected from reality. The "reality" being the low fruit has been picked by Tesla. The market has little desire for EVs at 2X/3x the price of ICE and zero desire for EV trucks. To quote Fords CEO, sub $20k Chinese EVs are an "extinction level event" for the Big3.
  • 28-Cars-Later "“It’s a very serious offense,” Friedlander said. “It’s not a parking ticket, let’s put it that way.""Well if it doesn't involve jail time, what's the difference?
  • Syke Seriously looking at one for next spring (and I've pointedly NEVER owned a full-sized pickup). Pity I'll be trading in a Bolt.
  • Cprescott The truck was a deal when first launched. It is not a deal now and appears to be only good to be an urban cowboymobile instead of a serious truck based on range issues.
  • Kwik_Shift_Pro4X It is a money losing venture. Like a country that is $35 trillion in debt and still able to give away tens of billions of dollars when asked.
