QOTD: What's Next for the Jeep Cherokee?
We've reported about Stellantis idling the plant where the Jeep Cherokee is built, and today Matt wrote about how the options list for the vehicle is narrowing. It appears that the current generation will be finished after the 2023 model year. So, what's next?
Should Jeep continue to build the Cherokee, bringing forth a next-gen vehicle (it should go without saying that if a fourth-generation Cherokee is set to be unveiled soon, it would already be under development)? Should Jeep not bother? Should Jeep take a few years off from the segment and then return the Cherokee? Should the next Cherokee, if there is one, be an EV?
For what it's worth, one of my parents drives a 2021 Cherokee and has generally been happy with it.

Yeah, but I love that new car smell although the payments last 5 years longer than the smell.

Just drove a rental for 5 days in Florida. Ran just fine , good acceleration (V6), comfortable interior, 24 MPG (mostly city), etc.
My current SUV is over 10 yrs old. Seriously considering a Cherokee as replacement considering new & used car prices are falling back to earth. Only concern is the 9 speed automatic (it did buck one or twice in Florida, but this is considered "normal" now days), but the major bugs are out of the way in later editions. Parts should be no major issue with 1.4M sold in the US.🚗🚗🚗
