QOTD: What Are You Looking Forward To From NAIAS?

You may have noticed a dearth of posts today. That's because one of us was driving to Detroit for the North American International Auto Show and at least one of us has been working on some news we cannot yet share...look for that info as embargoes lift.

The biggest news has to be the unveiling of the next Ford Mustang. Which I've just seen and it's *this author has been dropped into the Detroit River for breaking embargo*.

Ahem. Anyway, check back sometime after 8 p.m. EST tomorrow to see the next iteration of the venerable pony car and hear my thoughts about it. Stellantis also plans on making news at this show with its Chrysler and Jeep brands. Chevrolet, too, is expected to announce something.

What are you, the car enthusiast, the most curious about? Sound off. If we can, we'll try to incorporate your answers into tomorrow's coverage.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

The new battery technology breakthrough. E.g. instantly charging "quantum (entangled) batteries".

    Nothing to be excited about.

Expecting the most notable change to Mustang will be higher price.

Feeling unenthusiastic about the future of driving.

I share your lack of enthusiasm. For my own personal car, the Mustang GT convertible is likely the only new car I would consider at the point. I want one more last blast of old-school HP, although it is possible that at the price point Ford might demand, a low-mile C6 or C7 Corvette would fill the role.

The Mrs. isn't in need of a new ride for awhile, so I'm not really looking at any of the plethora of crossovers that will be available. So there's that.

I'd like to see Kia bring over their new K900.

If they stick with the current naming program (Optima >>> K5), they'll have to keep the K9 name. Woof woof!

Peter De Lorenzo's Rant today over at The Autoexremist covers the show, and is pretty good. There's even a cameo by Jack Nicholson.
