VinFast Debuts Tiny New VF3 for the Vietnamese Market

VinFast made a splash in the U.S. with the release of its first EV here, the VF8, but the reviews have not been the most positive early impressions. We’re expecting another model, the VF9, at some point, but the automaker’s newest EV hasn’t yet been slated for a North American release. The new VF3 mini EV is scheduled for release in 2024 as a super-small crossover with seating for five.

The company will offer the VF3 in two trims, and it’s expected to be budget-priced. Inside, physical controls and other features have been shifted to touch-based systems, and the dash is cropped to allow more interior space. It will offer a single electric motor and will likely land as a two-wheel drive model.

We don’t have any specs or range estimates for the VF3 yet, but VinFast promised an “impressive travel distance.” Orders open in September 2023, but deliveries aren’t slated until the third quarter of 2024, so buyers have quite a while to wait for their new EV.

The VF3 is the seventh EV from VinFast, which also offers the VF e34, VF5 Plus, VF6, VF7, VF8, and VF9. Only the latter two models are confirmed release intentions for the United States, so it will be interesting to see if and when other models make their way here. Tiny models like the VF3 don’t have the most successful track record here, making it more likely we’ll get the automaker’s larger models first.

Lovely design. This is just the kind of vehicle I imagined. Hopefully closer to 3000lbs than 3500lbs. Liking the 16 inch wheels. We all know it's a hard road ahead to large scale production. Maybe one day it will reach Canada. It's all Momma needs and it's all I need.

Is this one also half-baked? Or should I say, only half-digested before being sent on its way into the world?

The dark window tint is good for EBFlex and Tassos...nobody will see them puffing each other's peters!

Looks like a Lada Niva. Lada should have an EV version of the Niva.
