Toyota Tacoma Teased Again Ahead of April 4 Debut

We saw a teaser image of the Toyota Tacoma last week, and now there are two more images -- one of which teases the release date.

That date is April 4, 2023. The day before the media day at the 2023 New York Auto Show.

To be clear, Toyota doesn't explicitly say that's the day. Rather, that's the number on the fake license plate on the current-gen truck in the pic.

There's also a blurry gray truck in the background that is probably the next-gen.

That's all we have to go on -- go here to check out the original Instagram post.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

If there is no 2WD Access Cab with 6 speed manual, then I'm not interested.

I was wondering if the Taco was the descendant of the HiLux.

I'm 6'2", and I just don't know what anyone is talking about when it comes to point #2. Every Toyota Hilux or Pickup before the introduction of the 2nd generation Tacoma about 18 years ago was as you described. I never enjoyed the combination of a high ride height and a Porsche driving position in the 4WD models. When the 2005(?) Tacomas came out, the comfort issue was resolved for me. I've driven and ridden in quite a few of them, and never experienced the legs-straight-out feeling I did in the earlier ones.
