This Mustang Convertible Looks Fresh Off the Set of "Pimp My Ride"

The early 2000s was a wild time for car culture. The import scene was hopping after The Fast and the Furious hit cinemas, and in 2004, the world was gifted with Pimp My Ride. Powered by rapper Xzibit, the show featured “unsuspecting” car owners taking their rides to the extreme with wild colors, rims, and customizations. A few of the cars have surfaced over the years, but surprisingly, the one in this sales listing isn’t one of them.

The Drive found the 1999 Ford Mustang GT Convertible listed on International Car Center’s website for just under $30,000. The car, which features a Vortech Supercharger and just 22,000 miles, comes with blazing yellow paint and a list of custom work that would make Xzibit jealous.

Someone went to great lengths with the Mustang, adding 20 TV monitors, Saleen and Cobra bodywork, and a completely custom fiberglass interior. There are even TVs on the brake discs and on either side of the license plate.

Though the work appears well done and the car has low miles, you really have to love yellow and have to want to be seen to buy this thing. The price isn’t outrageous for the car, but a quick run through KBB’s valuation tool shows a max value of $10,249 when mods are accounted for.

"I thought I'd seen it all, but TVs on the brake calipers is a new one."

I assumed you had just taken a big hit off your crack pipe with that comment so I checked the picture. It appears that you aren't the person doing crack.

    This thing is an abomination.

I can grok everything but 20 TV monitors. What earthly purpose do they serve? If the entire skin were screens, it could change like a chameleon. But they are just square blobs scattered all over. The rear ones can send messages to tailgators. The others?

At least the two fake NOS bottles are car related. If it had cattle horns up front, at least that would relate to historical car bling.

Makes me wonder how many other mods are just as useless, and how well any of them are done.

Tassos isn't here, can we enjoy a break from his manic veneration of all things Teutonic? I missed the article where this website became The Tassos About Cars. Instead of dispensing tired advice and junk, just be cool and smoke a J mang.
