Housekeeping: Enjoy the Holidays, Folks

Christmas and New Year’s are upon us, and that means we’re gonna be off Monday and Tuesday each of the next two weeks, and with light posting in between.

What does that mean? Here’s how it’s gonna go…

We won’t be working on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day, but we may have some pre-planned posts popping up for you to read as you suck down the last of the eggnog. For the week between Presents Day and Hangover Day, we’ll be posting, but at around half-speed. Junkyard Find will move to Wednesday, December 26th and Wednesday, January 2nd for your perusal, before returning to Mondays on January 7th.

We’ll be back at full steam on the 2nd of January, rocking and rolling into the next year. Celebrate responsibly, go easy on the eggnog, don’t shoot your eye out, don’t leave your kid alone when you fly to France, and whatever you do, don’t hop in a dumpy RV and kidnap your cranky Scrooge of a boss just to make your cousin-in-law happy.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Merry Christmas from foreign shores and distant lands! Remember those not able to be home...

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you spend it well. We are having a big cookout, and I'm really looking forward to that. My cousin is going to do a turkey breast, so that's good for me as I dont eat pork and most of my family usually cooks a ham, lol. That and I asked my friend (cousin's step daughter) to make chicken and dressing, she made it on Thanksgiving and it was amazing. After Christmas, I'm going to start putting the engine in the GMC (with my cousins help). It arrived yesterday. Looking forward to getting that truck on the road. Hopefully I can take the truck on the next job and leave the Taurus at home. Will be good to get my tools out of its trunk, too, lol. Then I can finally start the interior restoration on the car without fear of ruining it by having to take it to work. Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.

  • Merry Christmas! Santa. What a disgrace!
