Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a revealing clip in a new teaser video for the upcoming Lamborghini Urus, potentially confirming the shape of the Italian company’s new machine.

In a teaser spot meant to highlight its track-focused Corsa mode, a quick shot of the infotainment display shows what appears to be the entire vehicle without any camouflage. Lamborghini quickly took down the video and reuploaded it with an edited version, but not before a couple of quick-on-the-draw Youtubers put the original video on their own accounts for the world to see.

At about the 0:11 mark, a shot of the centre stack shows a couple of digital screens, an upper one for infotainment and one directly to its south for climate controls. The top unit is displaying a picture of the Urus, much in the way many other luxury brands do when certain sport modes are summoned by the driver.

Sporting a very aggro front fascia, the machine shown on the display could hardly be mistaken for anything but a Lamborghini, with narrow headlights and a toothy lower valence. The Urus was first shown as a concept in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show, after which it didn’t take long for rumours of a production model to begin circulating.

Close inspection of the film also reveals an Anima selector and … is that an Ego button? With Lambo’s penchant for theatre, surely it is. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is also shown, as is a dashboard with gauges resembling those found in its two-door cousins. I’m guessing the clips were shot in Spain, as the gauge cluster shows the Urus driver tuned to the Los40 radio station.

Lambo’s first crack in ages at something other than a gonzo supercar – excepting the LM002, of course – is reportedly using its connections within the Volkswagen Group to deploy the platform underpinning the latest versions of the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, not to mention the Bentley Bentayga.

Purists are horrified, citing all manner of examples as to why the Italian company should not build an SUV. These are likely the same folks who cried into their Pilotis when Porsche introduced the Cayenne, and we see how that turned out for that brand. It’s worth recalling that Lamborghini originally built tractors. I am not in the “ZOMG THEY CAN’T DO THIS” camp, but I am horrified at the name selected for this model – a name which calls to mind … well, I’ll let you use your imagination.

The Urus will likely deploy all manner of carbon fiber and other lightweight elements in a bid to provide the levels of performance one expects of a Lamborghini. In addition to Corsa mode, the video also clearly shows new Terra (off-road), Sabbia (sand), and Neve (snow) modes. Strada and Sport are also present and accounted for.

Expect to see a production version of the Lamborghini Urus on December 4th in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

  • Dusterdude @El scotto , I'm aware of the history, I have been in the "working world" for close to 40 years with many of them being in automotive. We have to look at situation in the "big picture". Did UAW make concessions in past ? - yes. Do they deserve an increase now ? -yes . Is their pay increase reasonable given their current compensation package ? Not at all ! By the way - are the automotive CEO's overpaid - definitely! (That is the case in many industries, and a separate topic). As the auto industry slowly but surely moves to EV's , the "big 3" will need to be producing top quality competitive vehicles or they will not survive.

The only real over/under is if these will have as much cachet as Land Rovers themselves? A bespoken item had to be new at one time. Bonus "accepted by the right kind of people" points if EBFlex or Tassos disapproves.

The UAW already did that with two-tier employees and concessions on their last contract.The Big 3 have never, ever locked out the UAW. The Big 3 have agreed to every collective bargaining agreement since WWII. Neither side will change.

Also, the F1 rumor mill churns more than EBFlex's mind choosing a new Sharpie to make his next "Free Candy" sign for his white Ram work van. GM will spend a year or two learning how things work in F1. By the third or fourth year GM will have a competitive "F-1 LS" engine. After they win a race or two Ferrari will protest to highest F-1 authorities. Something not mentioned: Will GM get tens of millions of dollars from F-1? Ferrari gets 30 million a year as a participation trophy.
