Lincoln Mk. V (public domain)

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends. In this special edition of QOTD, I answer your search engine queries with all the sincerity I can muster. So let’s start with your above question: Where is Silverado made? The answer is simple. Silverado, the alt-Western starring basically the cast of The Big Chill, was filmed on location in New Mexico.

Let’s roll the tape and see what else you asked.

how many cts v wagons were made in blue: You should ask Jonny at Motor Trend. They gave him a free trip to Dubai so he could drive the CTS-V wagon on the Dubai F1 course, presumably because the barriers were too far off the racing surface for even a moron to hit. Then they gave him a free CTS-V wagon for a year. He used it to carry craft beer. I don’t know if it was blue.

suzuki aerio 2007 serpentine size: It’s possible to put all but the largest pythons in a Suzuki Aerio.

ford recalls 2017: With some satisfaction, but also with a sense of loss, I’d imagine. The same way I do.

how many miles will a nissan titan last: Before you can call it a Titan?

lincoln mark v 1979 models were worst cars ever made: No, your momma was the worst car ever made, because every week she needed to have her Johnson rod replaced. Seriously. Don’t come on this site and talk smack about the Mark V.

truth about care lexus gs: As nice as the Lexus GS is — and it is quite nice — nobody really cares.

cls550 reliability: Oh, my sweet summer child, what do you know of fear?

2007-09 california special mustang pricing: I can absolutely get you the special California pricing on 2007-2009 Mustangs. Send me your bank routing code and account number.

chevrolet captiva review: It’s right here. Read it at your peril.

are flat mini cooper’s foreign cars: It depends where you are, I think.

jetta 4 bodies only stripping: Any stripper named Jetta is to be avoided. In a former life, the infamous Vodka McBigbra danced as “Cassidy.” She had a great body.

is the police durango persuit vehicle picking up sales from the carbon monoxide ford explorer: The only reason I know a real person typed this: they misspelled “pursuit”.

how to activate an old analog car phone: Sir, you have a long and depressing road ahead of you.

eastern europe bought mercedes but can’t afford to drive it: If the Boost Brothers hear about this, they will whip you like Devo.

will a 99 cavalier with a 2.2l alternator fit a 96 beretta with a 3.1l? junkyard build This is, like, a legitimate question, to which I do not have the answer. But I’d say no, because the alternator will be in a different position in a V-6. Sorry, brother.

is 190k bad for a monte carlo ss? Not if you’re at Barrett-Jackson.

That’s all, folks! See you next time!

“eastern europe bought mercedes but can’t afford to drive it”

If she is a stripper named Jetta I can help her out.

Jack once called Albuquerque a “hive of scum and villainy” – I was going to disagree but then I remembered the very pregnant stripper I witnessed on stage in that not-so-fair city.

I’ve actually heard good things about ABQ, but it was from a rather meticulous fellow who told me he owned a chain of fried chicken restaurants…

(I’m actually seriously considering abandoning ship on Denver once my kids are out the door in a few years…cost of living here is just stupid. What’s up with ABQ, all joking aside? I’ve actually heard pretty good things about it.)

@FreedMike..I got that…: ) ..Driving through the South West is on my bucket list. I’ve flown over top several times, but I always wanted to see the Terrain close up.

There you go TTAC. Do a piece on “The vehicles of “Breaking Bad” I’ll bet you’ll get some responses ?

LOL…it’d look like a BHPH lot, with a puke green Aztek, Jesse’s lowrider Monte Carlo, or Saul’s old DeVille…I’d say “Cars of The Sopranos” would be a cooler piece.

Nothing but respect for Walter for dumping the Aztek for a 300 SRT-8. Cool car, even with the bullet hole in the fuel tank…

Save you the trouble. Crappy roads, vertical dirt with rocks and for the most part think beige.

Personally, the Southwest has way too much “southwest” style architecture – adobe roofs, white or sand colored walls, and contrived Spanish names for suburban developments, streets and strip malls. Maybe it’s just me, but it practically induces nausea. It’s like hearing Christmas music every day of the year.
The weather is fantastic in the winter, though.

I was being a wise guy.

Jack would likely reference the number of times his now wife was in car accidents with unlicensed/illegal drivers as part of what’s wrong.

Alcoholism is rampant in the state – there was an accident on I-40 and a drunk driver then managed to go around all of the stopped cars and at high speed plow into the rescue helicopter that was on the scene.

Having lived her since 2002, when I go to Albuquerque what I tend to notice/remember is “Latinas, Latinas – everywhere.”

Cost of living is low compared to say when I lived in MI for several years.

In many ways the state overall is a bit of a low populated microcosm of the nation. The southern half is full of conservative ranchers, the northern half is a bit more liberal and socially diverse – we currently have Democrats in charge of the state legislature but the Republican Governor is in her second term. Hillary won the state by a small margin.

Sounds a lot like Colorado, once you boil it down. Probably more illegal folks down there, I’d guess.

I was actually planning a vacation to Santa Fe this year with my girlfriend, and we were going to take a day and check out ABQ. Unfortunately, life interceded (my brother got sick) so that got nixed.

But ABQ is on my list of “Get Outta Denver” places to check out.

Santa Fe is our Hawaii – How can anybody afford to live there?

Most who work in Santa Fe live in Albuquerque, even with the two hour round trip commute it still provides an economic advantage.

We are much more empty than Colorado once you leave the metro areas. NM is the 5th largest state land-wise but number 36 in population.

          • 0 avatar

Hah ABQ – I knew it was the damn airport code or whatever jargon pilot types use!

You just had to get that swing at Jonny in there somewhere eh? Nice one…

I believe these questions were only sent to Jack because the spelling and grammar in most of them would cause Google to spit out the following reply:

“is 190k bad for a monte carlo ss?”

It may be a new record for those cars.

I dunno – How is babby formed?

The best Mustang California edition is the one in white with a lot of black contrast 2013-2014 edition. I believe that car will become a classic. The current Mustang California edition is a sad joke that should be retired.

  • avatar

Well, the ’79s are a bit disappointing because they axed the 460. You have to get 10 mpg instead of the 7 that the full Mark V experience demands.

  • avatar

Is CGHill amused by the homage?

      Jack Baruth

I hope so… obviously I stole the idea from him, and it’s not the only idea I’ve stolen from him over the years. On the other hand, he does quote me fairly often…
