To complain is to speak a First World Problem of the highest automotive order. But to catch my drift?
Here’s our latest, graphic free, HTML communiqué from the Ford GT Concierge:
We are pleased to inform you that it’s time to mark your calendar! Your anticipated Ordering Window for your new Ford GT should fall within April – June, 2018.
Your opportunity to purchase this vehicle is non-transferable and you agree to retain ownership for a minimum of 24 months after delivery and not to re-sell the vehicle within this period of time. The new Ford GT can only be purchased through a Ford GT Selling Dealer.
As we approach your Ordering Window, your Ford GT Concierge will reach out to you to begin the order process. In the interim, please refer to the Welcome Guide for further information about your ownership experience, and feel free to contact us at 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX.
Sincerely,
Ford GT Concierge Team
You mean there’s a gratification delay for over a year? I mean, damn son, that’s more First World Problem Worse than no Wi-Fi at the restaurant for which to you want to leave a snarky Yelp review!
Watch this space for our next interaction with the Ford GT Concierge … but not anytime soon.

Wow, and I thought the 10 weeks I waited for my special order Mustang GT were the longest 10 weeks of my automotive life.
A friend’s father in law waited around 15 months for his 2006.
“the Ford GT Concierge”
Now I can’t stop hearing Curly say “con-see-oi-gee”.
“My husband used to be the ‘concierge’, but he’s dead. Now I’M the ‘concierge’.”
A 3 Stooges and a Mel Brooks reference all in one small thread. Outstanding!
How will they enforce the 24 month no-reselling term?
Do you have to sign a binding contract stating that?
What if the owner dies?
Probably the same way that Ferrari does with their limited-run cars.
Lexus did similar with the LF-A, yes?
Ford will probably have the right of first refusal. They may also structure the purchase agreement so that is is more like a lease with an agreed buyout for the first x years. If you somehow find a way to circumvent Ford, they may cancel your warranty or take other punitive actions.
Welcome to Ford’s version of “Waiting for Godot.”
If you build it, they will wait.
Thank you for calling Plaza Cable, your technician will arrive between April and June.
We value your business here at Time Warner Cable. We know your internet is broken, would you like to upgrade it? $99.95/mo special deal.
Even If I had the cash I would let them pound sand ( and they would not care in the least) these terms are really a bit much, yes we will sell everyone and we will limit supply to drive up prices but we will not let YOU the one who shelled out insert 100 and 100’s of thousand even considered grabbing some of the market by selling it before 2 years, thanks but no thanks Ford, once I own it it is well in my rights to do what I want with it and that means selling it if I 1 do not like it, 2 do not fit in it ( I read a story about either a NFL or NBA, guy who bought a high end car and could not fit in it) or need the cash because my business just crashed or most likely I got bored with it and want the next shine supercar instead.
And that’s the wonderful thing about a free market system – you have every right to not apply to buy one or buy the car once chosen, if you’re so fortunate. Those terms have been extremely clear since the info went live so it’s not a surprise to anyone.

Do you own any of the software you use to read this site, OS, browser, even if you’ve paid money for it? can you legally resell it?
A contract is a contract.
It’s beginning to smell a lot like vaporware.
Hardly, they won Le Mans with a pair of them didn’t they?
The Ford GT probably won’t take half the time the 2nd Gen NSX took to reach market.
Its a limited production car build by a 3rd party company (who built the Aston Martin Vulcan), much like the last GT was built by Saleen. This car is far more complicated as well.
First the NES Classic fiasco…now this!
BTW: I don’t want to hear anything about how I have clean drinking water, ample food stuffs and a comfortable shelter.
My heart goes out to all those who have to wait. With all their money that they can piss away on status symbols, they can lease a Porsche to amuse themselves until the GT arrives.
Eastern European here. My father could not have imagined having car ordered and it being ready in less than five years. It seems for all the communist propaganda, capitalism is working better. Good for you chaps.
Well if it took em’ 5 years to build it surely it was of the utmost quality, right?
