The Volkswagen diesel fix story was totally an April Fools’ joke.

Mark’s gotta quit confusing other Marcs.

I’m betting the ‘fix’ for the moment is reprogramming the ECU for the proper emissions control and hang the performance. That’s likely to make a lot of owners VERY upset and drive them back to the dealership for a trade in the hopes they’ll buy a non-diesel VW while they work on a true ‘performance’ diesel. They’re hoping those owners will not go to some other brand who wasn’t caught by ‘dieselgate’.

The local theatre here did a screening of “The Room” on bad movie day. I wish I had gone to see it.

It’s really a must see, if only for quotability later with whoever else you watched it with, or anyone that has seen. I think it would be a very fun large theatre experience, since everyone would know what they were getting.

I’ve only seen clips from if on “Everything Wrong With…” on YouTube.

I had turned it on when Adult Swim had it on a few years back but I was so confused I didn’t bother watching it.

I don’t think, based on what I’ve seen, I could even enjoy it in an ironically funny sense. It’s just too cringe-worthy. I’d just feel bad for the people in it.

Don’t feel too bad for those guys, they are still milking that movie. The two main actors frequently show up at showings to rub elbows with fans. For the past 4-5 years, they’ve had monthly showings in DC, with Wiseau himself showing up once or twice a year. The first time, there was a line around the block to get in.

I first saw the movie on Adult Swim – it was shown as an April Fool’s joke. Trust me, those black boxes saved your eyesight.

I’ll bet he didn’t really read the whole letter. It starts out somewhat plausibly, then about halfway through it starts getting more and more absurd.

Have you read a typical contract/agreement for any organization these days? They all read like that, having an “I give up, roll over and allow you to do whatever you want” clause in them. In that respect, this joke isn’t all that funny.

I’m still betting the actual fix will make truth seem stranger than fiction.

I didn’t see the original post on Friday, but putting exclamation marks in an “official” letter is usually a sign that it’s not the real thing. And the drive around for seven to 14 days line seals it.

Lol I read that and kept going “WTF” until somewhere near the end it hit me what day it was, good work TTAC you guys totally got me!

TTAC got me as well, I almost believed it until I read on and it just seemed beyond anything VW would do.

I also read something funny on 4/1 that said VW had settled with the EPA and was going to spend $5 million to buyback the cars, which meant that VW would be paying every owner $10. haha!

Pretty soon April Fool’s jokes are going to need a disclaimer. “Please do not take the following seriously. If you find you must, avoid operating heavy machinery or putting hot drinks in your lap, and proceed to the nearest Pshrinks ‘r Us.”

Wow, it’s impressive that it apparently seemed real enough for that guy.

I learned about a very clever April Fools joke this past Thursday.

Some people will just never get the joke, no matter how obvious it is. Just read the comments following this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXwnwOTyKXE

For those who can’t see, it’s a review of the new 2015 Mustang, using the previous generation 2014 V6 model. Too many people take it upon themselves to point out that it’s the wrong car.
